Our Educational Programs

The educational programs at Magical Handprints Preschool were created with young children’s needs in mind: to mature and develop in a safe yet stimulating environment. Take a look below to learn more about each program.

Outdoor Play

Outdoor play is essential for children of all ages, especially preschoolers. Being able to run, jump and explore nature helps toddlers to grow and develop both physically and mentally. Outdoor play contributes to learning communication skills and social customs, as well as strengthening muscle tone and body coordination.

Arts and Crafts

By doing something creative, you allow for self-expression and this lets children express (and cope with) their feelings. It also fosters mental growth in children by providing opportunities for trying out new ideas, new ways of thinking and problem-solving.

Imaginative Play

Through pretend play, children learn about themselves and the world. Dramatic play experiences are some of the first ways children learn about their likes and dislikes, their interests, and their abilities. They experiment with role playing and work to make sense out of what they've observed.

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Spanish is integrated into the daily routine.
For young children, learning or strengthening a second language comes more naturally than it does for adults. In preschool, on any given day, your child may hear countless new words in Spanish and unconsciously learn song lyrics. If your child hears Spanish in early childhood, they are more likely to pick up the language without realizing it’s a second language.

Soccer

Playing soccer helps children build valuable life skills, such as hard work, decision-making, problem-solving, and communication. Through healthy competition, it also teaches the importance of teamwork and cooperation, balanced by good sportsmanship

Music

Music ignites all areas of child development and skills for school readiness, including intellectual, social-emotional, motor, language, and overall literacy. It helps the body and the mind work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words.

Science

Science helps children develop key life skills, including an ability to communicate, remain organized and focused, and they even get to form their own opinions based on observation.

Fine and Gross motor development

Children develop 2 types of motor (movement) skills: 'fine' motor skills and 'gross' motor skills. Fine motor skills involve using hands and fingers to control smaller objects. Gross motor skills involve the coordination of larger muscles in the body to make larger movements (Outdoor play and soccer)

Baking

Baking encourages children's thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. It also allows children the opportunity to use the knowledge they have and apply it by counting, measuring, following a sequence, following directions, and cause and effect.

Our Philosophy

To provide a teaching curriculum through developmentally appropriate practices for young children. By supporting children to understand themselves as active learners and working together with peers, we help develop critical thinkers who are curious and socially responsible in a safe and nurturing environment.
